Paradise Primary School became involved with Children’s University Australia in 2015. The aim is to show children that learning can be fun and that when you choose to learn about something yourself you are much more interested in doing the very best that you can.
Children’s University provides students with an exciting range of learning activities outside of the normal day to day school work, both arranged by the school and from outside organisations. They can happen before school, at lunch time, after school, or on the weekends and school holidays.
Children’s University activities should be ones that the children chose to do in their own time. All of the endeavours are ones that can be linked to a learning outcome, and can be connected to something that you could study at a university.
Run in conjunction with the University of Adelaide, children can experience what it feels like to graduate as they accrue the hours of learning in their ‘Passports to Learning’. Each validated hour of activity that the children complete is accrued towards different levels of achievement. We have a Graduation annually where the children graduate in Bonython Hall at the University of Adelaide, where they are presented with a certificate and get dressed up in a cap and gown, just like the older university students.
